Paintings of his like these always puzzle me—they're so realistic, look at the shading, and he's known as an impressionist. I suppose they represent his early work—he was trained traditionally. And, in fact, one of the reasons "Dejeuner sur l'herbe" and "Olympia" were so controversial was because they're such *realistic* naked women . . .
